MediaCityUk and Peel L&P wanted to evaluate their recycling and waste provision before going to tender.
THE SOLUTION
Sitemark's independent benchmark review provided the ideal solution. Taking a 3-pronged approach to reviewing all aspects of the recycling and waste service we identified many opportunities to drive improvement.
THE RESULT
We identified relatively easy to adopt cost savings amounting to 21.57% of the annual recycling and waste budget across the portfolio of buildings.
Our benchmarking data confirmed that MediaCityUK has some excellent processes and cost controls in place with some of the best dry mixed recycling rates in the sector.
We provided 48 specific actions to turn more waste into a valuable resource: some immediate and some longer term.
The facilities team now has a strong understanding of its external infrastructure and how it can be better utilised in the future.
MediaCityUK is now fully engaged in a tender process to test the marketplace with a view to introducing some additional sustainable recycling processes within the estate.
"Although we were confident that our data and reporting were accurate having an independent company like Sitemark check the data to a very granular level combined with a visual inspection of our activity was very re-assuring."
