Forward thinking Aston Strives for Advanced Sustainability
CHALLENGE
Aston
wanted to extend their strong portfolio of recycling and waste initiatives and
identify opportunities to increase sustainability by reducing waste output.
SOLUTION
Sitemark's independent review provided the ideal solution.
A
broad infrastructure audit was conducted. The process included an
in-depth evaluation of the data associated with the various services,
including hazardous and clinical medical.
RESULT
Sitemark identified cost improvement or efficiency gains
equivalent to 30% of the analysis total.
- Analysis found that the
non-recycled cost is 20% higher than the Sitemark benchmarks. Dry mixed recycling is 21% below the regional benchmark.
-
Recycled waste is well above the benchmark: measured at
54% or 186 tonnes diverted from landfill or recovery solutions.
- We provided
53 specific actions to turn more waste into a valuable resource: some immediate and some longer term.
- The
benefits for Aston include confirmation that
their efforts have reduced their waste impact and receipt of an
action plan to support their sustainability policy.
"Our work with Sitemark confirmed that we have made meaningful efforts to manage our waste in a sustainable way. The review process was easy and we were impressed with the detail that the report delivered. Relevant and insightful advice has been given and we are now looking to use what we have learnt within our next tendering process"
