Rising costs in Recycling and Waste
Rising costs in Recycling and Waste

The Pandemic and Brexit have created a perfect storm for British businesses, with many in recent weeks experiencing staff shortages and, this week, fuel shortages. The recycling and waste industry is particularly susceptible to these difficulties due to the nature of the work.

Plants, such as material recycling facilities, are struggling to retain processing staff and they, and waste movers, have been affected by the heavy goods vehicle driver shortage. Additionally, there have been numerous buyouts across the industry (see our blog on this here)

Consequently, service providers may increase costs during the early part of the Autumn 2021, and most certainly by Spring 2022.

What can you do to mitigate these increases?
  • Identify new on-site solutions
  • Check your bin configurations
  • Check your contract for costly clauses
  • Increase your recycling streams
There are many ways that you might be able to reduce the impact of cost rises. While we can't wave a wand to make the Brexit and Covid impact disappear, we are able to help you with the above suggestions and in many other ways.
