What's the new normal for cleaning practices?
Cleaning specifications in the education, commercial and retail sectors have traditionally concentrated on cleaning areas on a given frequency, or clean at all times; so that they are visually clean. With many businesses adopting a hybrid working pattern, post pandemic, it is vital that when employees are in the workplace, they are confident that it is Covid secure and hygienically clean. It is essential that the workplace cleaning programme, whether it be contracted or in house, is adapted to achieve this.
What must be done?
It's recommended that companies start with a review of their cleaning specification, to include:
- Increasing cleaning frequencies
- Specifying areas where surface virucidal disinfectants cleaning chemicals should be used (usually high-intensity touch points)
- Day time high-intensity touch point cleaning
- List examples of high-intensity touch points, don't leave it to individual choice
- Display an upgraded cleaning specification for building user visual awareness
- Specify increased audit frequencies to include ATP Swab Testing or Protein Swab Testing
In conclusion, hygiene cleaning is the new normal, if your workspace is due to re-open and you haven't adopted a new cleaning practice, you should consider getting advice straight away.
